Liz McDonald, principal at JOHNSON NATHAN STROHE, is a dynamic leader known for designing and delivering spaces that achieve the perfect balance of creativity and practicality. As the firm’s youngest principal, she oversees the firm’s multifamily division, leading projects that are at the forefront of housing trends.

ASD was proud to take part in the renovation of the Sheraton Downtown Denver hotel, an architectural icon in downtown Denver originally designed by renowned architect I.M. Pei. The team wanted to pay homage to Pei and his vision while honoring the Sheraton’s important place in the fabric of downtown Denver.

ASD recently completed the renovation of a 270-room hotel in Denver’s Cherry Creek neighborhood. Our team provided architecture and interior design services for the hotel, which was converted from a Holiday Inn to a DoubleTree by Hilton. The re-brand meant upgrading the hotel’s interior to match the new flag and creating a space befitting Cherry Creek’s upscale aesthetic.

Sitting at the corner of Court Place and the iconic 16th Street Mall in Downtown Denver, the Sheraton Downtown Denver hotel is coming to life with a new and improved design. ASD is incredibly proud to be providing the architecture and interior design for the hotel’s public spaces and porte cochere.

An eclectic art piece commissioned by ASD for inclusion in the renovated Sheraton Downtown Denver hotel was recently featured in Hospitality Design magazine, which showcases design in hotels, restaurants and other hospitality spaces around the world.

This month, the ASD team gathered in the most 2020 way possible for our virtual holiday party! Donning Santa hats and holiday sweaters with some very festive virtual (and real!) backgrounds, we poured celebratory drinks and said “cheers” to another year.

Celebrating and enhancing the experience of the world traveler is at the heart of the Sheraton Hotel’s reimagined story. Through every carefully selected material and customized detail found throughout the hotel, our design works to capture the early traveler’s spirit – one that saw possibility in the world at every turn.

Sometimes it’s good to get a different perspective on things. And in the case of our Sheridan Station Apartments project in West Denver, that perspective is a bird’s eye view! Take a look at this drone footage below of the project from our partners at Alliance Construction Solutions.

There has been tremendous progress on our Fitzgerald project in Lower Downtown (LoDo) over the past few months. The façade is nearly complete and shaping up quite nicely. This photo above shows a 19th and Market view of the Fitzgerald on a quiet Saturday morning in late November.

This month, ASD was honored at the Downtown Denver Awards for our work on the Hilton Garden Inn Denver Union Station and Woodie Fisher restaurant. The 233-key hotel brings needed upscale, yet affordable hotel accommodations to Central Platte Valley, with 10,000 square feet of meeting space and a main ballroom with 18-foot-high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows.

At the top of Denver’s iconic 16th Street Mall, our vision for the Sheraton Downtown Denver Hotel renovation is quickly becoming a reality. With an emphasis on contextual design, we approached the renovation by asking ourselves, “what would I.M. Pei do?”

Progress continues on our Sheridan Station project in West Denver! Most of the exterior façade has been completed and unit finishes are being installed across all levels. With the project nearing completion, pre-leasing is expected to start soon.
